Reading about the real life story of a successful or remarkable person often influences, motivates, or provides encouragement. During this period CM1- Section International were able to learn about the compelling stories of Dr. Martin Luther King and Betsy Ross (designer of the first American Flag). The stories helped them recognize the hardships that these historical figures had faced during their lifetime. To inspire students, CM1 were asked to choose a personality that they recognize to be an important figure and has somehow inspired them. Each student then presented their personality to the class. We had some interesting collection of biographies! The insight gained in studying a biography of their own choice added an affective, emotional component to the online learning that went beyond the curriculum objectives. As students learn about the challenges that these personalities have overcome, they were able to make connections to their own lives.
