There are very few days that are as memorable in school every year than Halloween. Being able to dress in costume, having activities all day, and just having a good time in the classroom makes it one of the best days of the year. It is fun for the students to see their teachers not take every single day so seriously.
As Halloween fell on a Sunday this year, LIFE school decided to incorporate Halloween festivities and activities on Monday, November 1st. This year, ESL teachers looked for ways to have some Halloween fun while still keeping students safe within COVID-19 protocols. The classroom activities were centered around Halloween, but also learning about how that celebration is celebrated around the globe as part of a culture. The celebration saw students and teachers dressed up in various costumes to celebrate the spirit of Halloween. The students came dressed in various outfits to mark the welcoming of good spirits and driving away the bad spirits in their lives.
Halloween celebrations for younger students consisted of talking about their costumes and doing fun art and craft activities in their ESL classes. The children in CM1, made a monster craft making activity. They were given plasticine and cut out papers to put together to make a monsters’ face. Whilst the CP students impressed their ESL teachers with their oratory skills in the Show & Tell Activity done in the class on their costumes. The children had a wonderful time and were seen smiling happily as they left the school.
