On Wednesday, March 30, we celebrated the 111th birthday of Louis-Charles Damais, highly emblematic figure of the Franco-Indonesian relationship whose name our school bears. We welcomed the Damais family and their relatives for the occasion, as well as a large delegation from the Labschool of Cibubur, an official Indonesian partner school which promotes the French language and which counts, among the many students present, the great-granddaughter of the famous French epigraphist.
After an academic session at the library where the 3e students unveiled their extraordinary update of the Wikipedia page dedicated to Louis-Charles Damais (https://fr.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Louis-Charles_Damais), we were offered a presentation from the two schools with Gamelan Degung from Sunda played by our students superbly supervised by the Simpay Panaratas trio who came specially from Sumedang, French poetry declaimed by the students of Cibubur, followed by a choral song and a magnificent costumed dance of “Kuda Lumping” of East Java. All superbly accompanied by an exhibition of portraits, a family tree and numismatics, followed by the traditional thanks, gifts and photo session to keep track of this superb first major public festive event which we hope will continue with others in your presence, very soon.
