During this whole week, all French Schools around the world celebrated Maths Week, focusing on “Maths in shape(s)”. The aim was to show all the students a current, lively and attractive image of mathematics.
In Junior High School, 4e students developed their artistic and mathematical acumen by studying “azulejos of the Alhambra” known to mathematicians as tessellation. After having constructed a primary motif, using translations, rotations and symetries, they were able to reconstruct the Pajarita, the motif adorning the wall of the royal hammock of the Comares palace.

In Premiere, students developed their Cartesian approach to geometry by working on the equations of circles, ellipses, parabolas and other sinusoids. Like the Emojis they produced, they seem to have kept a pleasant memory of this experience.
